I still have to pick out my wedding day shoes, but I know one thing that will be on my feet come the wedding day… Foot Petals!

I still have to pick out my wedding day shoes, but I know one thing that will be on my feet come the wedding day… Foot Petals!

We have found the Cheetah Wedding Color Palette! (Yes, it’s capitalized… the capitals make me feel like I accomplished something…)
If you remember, I wanted to introduce some new colors to our venue’s bold palette of black, white & yellow:

Thanks to the hive’s help, I was able to figure out what was wrong with my original palette—it was all the right colors, but the pinks were not the right tone. So after a little adjusting, I introduce you to the new and improved Cheetah color palette!*

Success! Black, white, lemon, petal, peony, & grey.

I am feeling much better about this palette and I don’t think I need to add anything else. I realized that I kept trying to put colors together that I liked, but didn’t necessarily go with our venue and therefore our overall look for the wedding.
Here is a loose inspiration board I threw together to help get a better idea of how these colors worked together:

So hive, what color bridesmaid dresses should I pick?
Option A: Petal Pink: flattering and colorful without being overpowering. But is it too delicate for our overall look?
Option B: Grey: Sophisticated and the bouquets will really pop—but I worry that’s it’s a tad boring and I do love color…
*I can still change my mind up until the wedding is actually here, right? ;)

Our engagement pictures with our amazing photographer (I’ll tell you about her soon) are fast approaching and we still need to decide what we are wearing and pick the final locations, but right now I keep thinking about whether or not we should bring any props.
Props can be simple, such a balloon or umbrella:

Or you can use props to stage elaborate scenes like this adorable picnic with our own Mrs. & Mr. Socks:
And check out this fiesta styled shoot:
But there is also something so classic about photos with just the couple:
Part of me thinks having some sort of prop (I’m partial to heart shaped balloons and umbrellas, but I think a pile of books or cupcakes could also work well) will give us something to focus on during while we are striking a pose, but I also worry that we’ll be awkward with the props and have a hard time looking natural while trying to hold up an umbrella or the likes. Mr. Cheetah and I don’t have a lot of experience in front of the camera so we are hardcore studying by watching America’s Next Top Model. After another episode or two I hope to have my “smizing” down. ;)
As for the props, I think I might just throw some things in the car, and if we use them great, and if not, well that’s fine too. And is it bad that I think the Groucho Marx glasses and nose that Carrot Top is modeling might actually be cute in engagement photos?
Where do you stand: Props or no props?
Do you have a celebrity wedding that you just feel connected to? Whether you love the wedding styling, a particular aspect (locale or dress perhaps), or maybe you just like the celebrities themselves? There were a slew of celebrity weddings this summer (Carrie Underwood, Hilary Duff, Alicia Keys, Emily Deschanel, Emily Blunt & John Krasinski just to name a few), but the celebrity wedding I was most excited for was Chelsea Clinton & Marc Mezvinsky’s.
I’ve always somehow oddly related to Chelsea Clinton. Maybe it’s because we’re about the same age and we were going through our awkward junior high school years at the same time. Whatever it is, I was so excited for her recent wedding. So as soon as the pictures were released I was googling the heck out of them. Check them out:
I don’t understand how they made all those awesome fabric swirls on the dress, but I loves them!
Look how happy they look!

It would have made my year to be a guest at this wedding! This is the closest we Americans get to a Royal wedding—Well, a Trump wedding may count too ;).
Sorry about the title, but hey, I like cheesy puns. Mmm Cheesy puns...
At the end of the summer Mr. Cheetah and I spent a couple days in Palm Springs so we could meet with potential wedding vendors. It was a packed couple of days; we met with 4 florists, 2 DOCs, a DJ, scoped out 3 potential rehearsal dinner spots, looked for photo locations, and taste tested some cupcakes (one of the best parts of wedding planning, no doubt). We stayed at the Viceroy—for the first time—and it was awesome-pants! We fell in love with our venue all over again and we got extra super-duper excited for our wedding there! The staff took great care of us, and the two managers we’re working with even sent up free champagne and chocolate strawberries (which lasted all of two minutes before I put them all in my belly, where they belong).
Here are a bunch of photos so you can understand why we fell in love with The Viceroy for a second time.

I am so glad Mr. Cheetah and I decided to spend some time at our venue months before the wedding. It was off-season, so we got a great deal on our room. We were able to meet with some of our future vendors and we got to know our wedding locale much better. We even got lucky with the weather—it was a freakishly cool late summer weekend for Palm Springs—which means mid-upper 90˚s. Hey, it’s the desert—that’s cool for late summer.
The night before we left we got a couple drinks at the bar and walked around the Viceroy property talking about how we will get married in this spot, eat our first married meal in that space, dance with our family and friends in those rooms. We feel so comfortable and happy at the Viceroy and walking around imaging our future wedding there was so much fun and also kind of romantic.
Viceroy, we love you! See you soon!
If you get a chance to spend some time at your venue pre-wedding, you should totally do it!
PS—I wanted to show you the roadrunner we saw on our Palm Springs trip:

Those are puffy sequined hearts on top of blue ballet flats! They are made by Ras and I bought them on Rue La La. They’re a little tight in the toes, but it’s nothing a little breaking in can’t fix. I’m thinking I might wear them for our engagement photo session next month.
Any ideas about what kind of outfits would look cute with these shoes? I was thinking maybe some dark skinny jeans, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.
